Staff provided updates on public engagement opportunities for the downtown development plan and a community space called the Forge Exchange.
A staff member told commissioners Forge Exchange is open for public participation on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The staff member said an open house last Thursday drew about 38 attendees and encouraged commissioners and residents to visit during the posted hours to "talk comp plan."
Deputy staff member Derek (identified in the meeting as a staff contact) said the Downtown Development Authority will run public engagement events tied to the downtown development plan on March 25, March 26, and March 27; he cautioned that exact times were not yet finalized and that staff expect to publish more detailed schedules next week. He described a mix of stakeholder meetings (property and business owners), open-house style drop-ins and small charrettes intended to explore planning concepts and gather community input.
The commission accepted the meeting agenda and minutes at the outset of the session before these announcements. No members of the public spoke on these items during the meeting.
Staff asked commissioners to help spread the word about the Forge Exchange hours and the upcoming DDA events.
