Boone County board approves Whitestown Rex Park stormwater plans

The Boone County Drainage Board approved stormwater plans for the first phase of Whitestown Rex Park, a proposed public park on the former Rex Inc. site just north of the Westwood Landing subdivision.
Carrie Daley of Christopher Burke Engineering said the overall site is about 50 acres and the first phase will develop roughly 15 acres in the southern portion. Planned elements include internal drives, parking, sidewalks, trails, tennis and basketball courts, a playground and an amphitheater. “Feel like the project meets the requirements of the stormwater ordinance and standards and would recommend approval of the White's Town Recs,” she said.
Board members noted that multiple county offices had reviewed the plans and recommended approval. The board moved, seconded and approved the park plans by voice vote.
Next steps: the project will proceed into permitting and construction phasing; staff will continue coordination on ARPA-funded projects in the department.
