The Greendale board heard two capital project proposals from district staff: an accessibility ramp for the high‑school upper gym balcony (budgeted at $168,000) and an alternate bid to redo the Brinkman parking lot (bid: $108,865.50) that could be bundled with village roadwork this summer.
Business Director Jonathan Mitchell described the ramp project as replacing the existing stairs with a six‑foot ramp and new double‑door set, reconfiguring a classroom doorway for code compliance, and improving access for curricular and extracurricular programming. The project was scored highly in the district rubric and, if approved, would be funded from Fund 41.
The Brinkman alternate bid arrived lower than some earlier estimates; Mitchell said the district would propose splitting the cost roughly between community service funds (about $50,000) and Fund 41 (about $58,000), and that the combined Fund 41 levy impact including both projects would be about $250,000. He noted a verbal, not yet committed, church contribution of approximately $10,000 and that village roadwork timing targets a July 3 completion; he offered to report back with a firm construction end date.
Board members asked about logistics during construction — including relocating cheer practice, spectator routing for early‑season volleyball, and handicapped‑accessible parking during baseball/softball season — and urged coordination with coaches and contractors before returning for formal approval.
