The Farmers Branch Art and Culture Committee elected a new leadership team and approved its prior meeting minutes during its February meeting.
At the start of the meeting Speaker 1 opened the floor for nominations for committee leadership. Committee members moved to confirm Brianna as chair (noted in discussion as having moved into the chair role), and Speaker 3 formally moved to nominate Rita Ford for vice chair. The motion to appoint Rita Ford as vice chair was seconded and approved by the committee. Members congratulated the newly seated officers.
The committee then considered approval of the prior month’s minutes. Speaker 2 moved to approve the minutes “as written.” Speaker 6 stated they would abstain because they were not present at the prior meeting. The chair called the vote and the motion passed with one recorded abstention.
No formal vote tallies naming each member’s vote were supplied in the record. The committee concluded these procedural items before moving to program updates and event planning.
The committee is scheduled to reconvene with subcommittee reports and staff updates at its March meeting, when staff said they will return with more detailed drafts and schedules for several public-art items.
