The MSD Steuben County Board of Trustees approved Feb. 17 an MOU with the Boys & Girls Club of Elkhart County to provide after-school services at the district middle school for the spring semester.
Superintendent presented the agreement and said on average "somewhere in the neighborhood of about 12 to 20 kids" participate in the program. The current MOU cycle runs separately for fall and spring; the superintendent said the district will move to a single annual agreement beginning in August so one contract covers the whole year.
Board members moved and approved the spring-semester MOU by roll-call vote. The superintendent described the partnership as "a great program, good partnership" and asked the board to approve the spring agreement so the signed document could be returned to the Boys & Girls Club.
The board did not change program operations during the meeting; staff said they are continuing work with the Boys & Girls Club on logistics and will report back on any operational changes.
