The Scotia‑Glenville Central School District board approved a slate of routine motions at Monday’s meeting, including an electric school-bus purchase proposition and a change to the income threshold for a partial property-tax exemption for seniors.
A motion to accept the resolution for school-bus purchase proposition No. 2 was moved by Board Member (Speaker 2) and seconded by Board Member (Speaker 6); the motion carried by voice vote. Board Member (Speaker 2) clarified the buses are electric, a point Drew (facilities staff) confirmed: "It's for electric." The transcript records a voice vote and the chair declared the motion carried.
The board also approved a resolution to increase the maximum income level for granting a partial exemption from real property taxes for persons 65 years of age or older pursuant to Section 467 of the Real Property Tax Law. That motion was moved by Board Member (Speaker 2), seconded by Board Member (Speaker 4), and approved by voice vote with no discussion recorded.
Other measures approved included authorizing updated purchasing cards (Home Depot and Lowe’s) for employees; acceptance of the December 2025 extra classroom activity report; approval to establish an American Sign Language club at Scotia‑Glenville Middle School; and acceptance and appropriation of donations from Steward Shop to the high school health‑science student fund. The motion to accept donations was moved by Board Member (Speaker 6) and seconded by Resident (Speaker 1).
The communications/staffing agenda items (staffing 1–3) were approved with recorded abstentions: Board Member (Speaker 2) registered an abstention on that combined communications motion. The meeting closed after the board opened and then closed privilege of the floor for a second time and approved a motion to adjourn (moved by Board Member (Speaker 6), seconded by Board Member (Speaker 2)).
Vote style and records: votes were conducted by voice where recorded; the transcript records motion, second and the chair’s declaration that the motion carried but does not provide individual roll-call vote tallies for the listed items.
Next steps: items approved by the board will be implemented by the appropriate district departments; staff-reduction recommendations and the consolidation-related actions discussed earlier will be returned to the board for final approval.
