Arizona Advisory Committee approves minutes, expands panelist list and plans outreach

Summary
The committee unanimously approved previous minutes, approved additional Group 2 panelists (including Dr. Christiansen and Julie Baldwin as invitees), discussed outreach to Indian Health Service and nonprofits, and directed staff to pursue surveys and written testimony.
During the business portion of the Sept. 29 web briefing, the Arizona Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights voted to approve prior meeting minutes and to confirm additional Group 2 panelists.
A committee member moved to approve the minutes and the motion was seconded; a voice vote was recorded as unanimous. The committee then discussed and voted to approve additional potential panelists from Group 2, including a motion to invite Dr. Christiansen and to follow up with Julie Baldwin (Center for Health Equity Research/new NAU medical college leadership). Committee staff (DFO Kayla Fahoda) agreed to reach out to Indian Health Service contacts and to solicit written testimony from invitees who could not attend.
Members also discussed using the committee’s project page to host a public questionnaire to collect input from families and practitioners who cannot appear on a weekday briefing; staff agreed to explore a web survey option and collect written statements. The committee set priorities for future briefings—inviting IHS representatives, state public‑health data stewards and community nonprofits—and will schedule the next briefing once staff confirms availability.
