The board voted to adopt the policy by a recorded vote that carried six–zero.
President Autry said the district “was already ahead of the game on this matter” and thanked staff for aligning district practice with the recent guidance.
The motion to suspend Bylaw 131 stated it would apply only for this meeting and terminate automatically at adjournment. Board members said NEOLA (a national policy service referenced by the committee) will be asked for recommended edits and that the policy will return to committee for additional review as needed.
The board’s action cleared a procedural hurdle so the district could bring its written policy into alignment with recent state guidance and meet the state timeline cited by legal counsel and administration.
The decision was procedural rather than disciplinary: the board adopted the policy document and directed that administration and legal follow up with NEOLA recommendations for any future amendments.
