Superintendent Michael Robinson told the Akron Public School Board on Oct. 21 that he reviewed footage of an Oct. 16 interaction at Firestone CLC in which a School Resource Officer used force on a student and that he had taken immediate action.
"Based on my review, I made an executive decision to request that the SROs be removed from the school, and requested, per our SRO contract with the city, a meeting with city officials to make the removal permanent," Robinson said. He said emergency medical services provided an evaluation for the student and that counselors and victim assistants were deployed that day to support students and staff who witnessed the incident.
