The Lafourche Parish Council on Feb. 24 approved a slate of ordinances and resolutions, concluding routine business with unanimous recorded majorities and one listed absence.
The council adopted an ordinance ordering a special election to authorize continuation of ad valorem taxes and to make application to the state bond commission; the ordinance was moved by a member of the administration and seconded by Councilman Broomfield and passed 8 yays, 0 nays, 1 absence.
Members also approved an ordinance establishing a no-parking fire lane on West 130th Street in Ward 10 (District 9). Councilman Lorraine offered a floor amendment to revise location wording; the amendment passed and the ordinance as amended was adopted after public input produced no speakers.
The council approved an ordinance authorizing a servitude agreement between Jason J. Richew and Lafourche Parish Government concerning property in the Cutoff area and authorized the parish president to execute related documents.
In resolutions, the council rescinded Resolution No. 25-291, which had accepted a $5,600 quote from Chanson's Demolition LLC for demolition of a condemned structure at 114 West 208 Street, Galliano (Assessment No. 0102014300), and authorized the parish president to execute related documents. The council also approved an agreement with the City of Thibodaux to reimburse the parish for sewer pumps and authorized the parish president to sign the agreement.
The council appointed Brett Bridal to the Veterans Memorial District (Ward 10) on a recommendation from state Rep. Joel Jerome. Motions for the listed items were moved and seconded as recorded in the meeting; votes on the items were recorded as 8 yays, 0 nays, 1 absence (Adams).
A monthly financial report for January 2026 was distributed in advance of the meeting and accepted with no questions.
