Town Manager Peter Franzese asked and the board authorized staff to apply for a $50,000 North Carolina Railroad Company economic-development micro grant tied to the North Carolina Finishing Company/Lamb Fisher site project.
Franzese described the grant as a simple, quick application to support due diligence on the site and said staff would bring any award back to the board for acceptance. The motion to authorize the application was made by Alderman Erin Moody, seconded, and approved by voice vote.
Franzese also updated the board on park fundraising: he noted a $10,000 grant from the Salisbury Rowan Community Foundation among four gifts reported to date and said the project still seeks about $368,000 to complete the funding plan. Staff will continue grant-seeking and donor outreach efforts.
