Staff previews Memorial Day service, Arts in the Park, Castlewood and Belts Park schedule changes

On capital projects, staff said the Manor Park project was approved unanimously by the city council and a fee-waiver item was discussed by council as well. Castlewood (Foursome) will present next week about an agreement extension and proposed capital work funded through the park dedication fund; staff noted the golf contractor guarantees $50,000 in profit to the city and the operation has been producing increasing returns.
Belts Park preconstruction occurred but the contractor must wait for a watershed permit; site work was estimated to begin around June 16 with playground installation now scheduled for August. Staff said a proponent for Headwaters playground requested additional time to revise plans and will return with updated designs in a couple of weeks.
Staff also noted the city council authorized a party to apply for a conditional use permit (CUP) for a proposed cell tower; staff will review and engage if a formal application comes forward.
Next steps: staff will present Castlewood items at the next commission meeting, monitor permitting for Belts Park and coordinate Arts in the Park volunteer schedules.
