Forest Lake — Mayor Roberts informed the council of the off-duty death of Detective Joshua Brown on Aug. 11 from an apparent medical event and asked the council and community to join in a moment of silence.
Mayor Roberts summarized Brown’s service history: hired by the Forest Lake Police Department on Oct. 28, 2017; he served as a patrol officer, use-of-force and range instructor, and was most recently assigned to the Washington County Drug Task Force and SWAT team. Mayor Roberts and others described a strong law-enforcement turnout for visitation and funeral services and thanked neighboring agencies (Cottage Grove, Woodbury, Oakdale, Stillwater and Washington County) for assisting with patrol duties in the aftermath.
Mayor Roberts asked for a moment of silence in appreciation of Brown’s dedication to the department and the community.
