Committee members asked for clarification on scope. Speaker 5, who described herself as responsible for the budget, said the cleanup simply moves negative line items back to positive and does not carry prior appropriations forward. After discussion, Speaker 1 moved to enact the ordinance as read; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The ordinance, as approved, instructs the quorum court to reallocate sums within the 2025 budget to eliminate deficits in affected line items. The committee noted Article 4 was later added to document completion of a prior court order related to the same cleanup.
The committee adjourned after completing the items on its agenda.
