A motion to approve the Nov. 11, 2024 meeting minutes was moved by Speaker 9 and seconded by Speaker 5; the board voted unanimously to approve. In a separate vote, the board approved checks and disbursements totaling $1,695,004.38 after a motion by Speaker 10 and a second from Speaker 9.
Jonathan Mitchell, presenting the October financial report, said the operational budget was “in line with what we would expect at this time of year,” noting a timing-related increase in operational expenses tied to an HVAC/boiler payment and a $50,000 food-service expense to replace a high-school freezer unit. Mitchell told the board that stimulus/ESSER funding—about $3,800,000—had been claimed through the Department of Public Instruction and is expended.
The board approved proposed course deletions and modifications intended to expand the number of college-aligned high school courses; Speaker 9 moved approval and Speaker 5 seconded. The board also approved the 2025–26 school calendar with one primary revision: staff professional development days are proposed for the week of Aug. 25 rather than an earlier week, a change the district said responds to staff feedback collected from 55 respondents.
On student services, the board approved a memorandum of understanding to bring community-based counselors into district schools. Denise (Speaker 12) said Clinical Psychology Associates is determining staffing and timelines and that the program will be scheduled once therapists can be secured. “She is confident that we’ll be able to get staff in the buildings to support the needs of all of our students,” Denise said. The motion to approve the MOU was moved by Speaker 10, seconded by Speaker 5, and approved by roll call.
All motions described above passed on roll-call votes during the meeting; board members indicated a unanimous yes for each recorded motion.
