Board recognizes county Teachers of the Year; Mobile Public Library highlights fentanyl response and programming

The Mobile County Public School System board used its Feb. 25 meeting to honor countywide Teachers of the Year and to hear a community partnership update from the Mobile Public Library.
Board members presented certificates to Jennifer Asbury (Council Traditional School), Daniella Yunker (Barton Academy for Advanced World Studies) and Dr. Chelsea Tanis (Davidson High School) and described each recipient's contributions. The chair noted all 90 district schools select a teacher of the year and that the three winners will be honored at the teacher‑of‑the‑year luncheon on March 13.
Library Director Juree Hall thanked the superintendent and described recent fentanyl awareness training provided across library locations. Hall said library sites now carry Narcan kits and that staff received training after meeting with community groups; she also announced three new library administrators, a book sale and a literary festival at Ben May Library on March 7.
What happens next: the district will recognize the teachers at the March luncheon and the library will continue its partnership activities with district staff; no formal board action was required for these recognitions and the presentation.
