The Fredericksburg City Council approved Ordinance 26-05 calling a general election for May 2 to fill the mayor's office and two council seats.
City staff explained the ordinance and said the filing deadline for candidates is Feb. 13 and that the last day to register to vote for that election is 30 days before the election, April 2. The staff presentation noted that early voting and Election Day voting will take place at the county elections office used previously for local contests.
Council moved to approve the ordinance, a motion was seconded, and the council carried the ordinance by voice vote.
