The communications director told the board Monday that the district has 1.4 million social-media views this cycle and is ready to take steps to make family communications more consistent and accessible.
The director said a usability audit of the district website runs 242 pages and that the first priority is improving mobile usability and simplifying the enrollment pathway to three clicks; those fixes are expected within approximately 90 days. He told trustees that rebuilding the site from scratch would cost roughly $250,000 and that the district plans to invest instead in targeted improvements that preserve the site's existing foundation.
On parent communication, the district recommended implementing ParentSquare to provide two‑way messaging between teachers, principals and families and to create a consistent district experience across schools. The communications director said ParentSquare will be the central family communications platform starting next school year, with outreach and education campaigns to ensure parents are enrolled.
The director also said the district plans to retire many individual school Facebook pages and consolidate official channels; he described the change as necessary because the district does not control all existing pages and wants a closed ecosystem for building-level sharing through ParentSquare.
Trustees asked how ParentSquare will link with Skyward grade data and whether the platform supports grade notices; staff said Skyward feeds into ParentSquare and that the communications plan will include training for families to adopt the new tools.
The board did not vote on a contract for ParentSquare during the meeting; staff said they will bring a recommendation to the superintendent and begin planning piloting and parent-education activities.
