Huntington welcomes new zoning administrator Jessica Lee and announces council assignment changes

The Huntington City Council introduced Jessica Lee as the new zoning administrator during its Feb. 18 meeting. Council members thanked retiring planning & zoning administrator Gary Arrington for his years of service and welcomed Lee.
Jessica told the council she has issued two zoning clearances — one for a shed and another for a detached garage — and is working with residents on vehicle-compliance issues. She said one resident received a yellow notice and understands a 30-day compliance period following the Feb. 10 contact. Jessica said she has coordinated with the county health department and the fire department on a local commercial building inquiry and recommended that, if a building contains hazardous materials, a monthly inventory report be filed to assist emergency responders.
Separately, the chair announced a change to council assignments: Devin Wilson will oversee streets and Gloria Wilson will oversee the cemetery. The mayor and council thanked Arrington for his service and told Jessica they look forward to her work on code enforcement and zoning clearances.
What happens next: Jessica will continue zoning-enforcement contacts, follow up on the cited compliance deadlines and coordinate with staff on code cleanups the planning and zoning board will review next month.
