Staff reported a new KGW weather-camera arrangement that will feature Seaside on air and online frequently, and credited the contracted PR firm Little Bird with multiple media placements for events and attractions over the past year.
Seaside's tourism staff delivered two media-related updates at the Feb. 18 meeting: a new agreement with KGW to feature a Seaside-branded weather camera and a summary of earned-media placements generated by the town's PR contractor, Little Bird.
Under the KGW agreement, staff said the Seaside camera will appear on air at least 50 times per month, stream 24/7 on kgw.com, be included in KGW's mobile weather app and OTT distribution, and deliver banner-ad impressions; staff described the media team's early enthusiasm and shared a sample clip. "The camera feed will also stream 24 7 on kgw.com," staff said during the meeting. Committee members noted the camera's strong zoom and editorial value in showing local activity, including recent spectacular nighttime drone footage and widespread social media interest in northern-lights images captured in the area.
Separately, tourism staff credited Little Bird (the PR firm contracted in 2025) with multiple successful placements, saying the agency secured coverage for events and seasonal features including the aquarium, jazz festival and sand-castle activities. Staff said the PR relationship has largely delivered the results the RFP sought and that the firm continues to amplify special programming and grant-related activations.
Committee members welcomed the visibility but emphasized the importance of aligning earned and paid media with destination objectives (family-friendly appeal, signage, and downtown experiences). Staff said they will continue to monitor metrics and report back; the committee requested short, periodic summaries of major placements and any measurable reach associated with large buys or negotiated impressions.
