Fremont City School Board approves donations, student trips and multiple personnel actions

The board approved adding a third foreign exchange student for the school year; the superintendent noted district policy limits exchange students to six per school calendar year. "I think it's always a good experience for our kids to be exposed to students from other countries," a board member said in support.
Two FFA travel requests were approved: one for an out-of-state overnight national convention in October and one for a smaller leadership trip (agenda dates corrected from Sept. 27to Sept. 26 in the packet; the board approved the trip with corrected dates Sept. 27to Sept. 29). The board asked FFA to bring a post-trip presentation about student experiences.
Personnel items approved included resignations and retirements: Travis Bates (34 years), Scott Havas (34 years), Jeff Wright (30 years) and Sandra Cooley (29 years). The board also approved certified substitutes (Krista Walker, Sarah Watson), support staff hires (Tristan Newman, Suzanne Beatty) and a slate of supplemental contracts including new and returning positions.
Motions on these consent items were made and passed by roll call vote with all present members voting yes.
