The commission discussed whether retail recruitment is the highest-return use of redevelopment funds but ultimately approved the travel request and specified the money come from the town's operating budget.
"We at the Chamber ... we're hoping to have that [commercial space data] in the next few months," a chamber representative said, describing outreach to local property owners and developers. The chair then called the voice vote; commissioners approved the motion.
The commission asked that attendees report back on leads and developer feedback following the conference.
