Jill Coleman, director of Kent County Parks and Recreation, presented the department’s 2025 annual report to the board, highlighting program growth and recent capital work.
Coleman said the department registered more than 2,856 individuals for programs in 2025, offered 80 programs and 43 community events, and saw sports league participation rise to 807. She described sold‑out summer camps, an expanded Youth in Action program (from 12 to 24 participants), and new or updated facilities including field upgrades, backstops, dugouts and a new lighted basketball court at Wharton Park. Coleman also credited partnerships with the Kent County Health Department and local organizations for funding free community events such as Fall Fest, which grew to more than 500 attendees this year.
Commissioners praised the report and thanked staff and volunteers. No formal action was required of the board; staff received commissioner endorsement to continue capital improvements and program partnerships.
