Borough of Indiana council voted to advertise a revised meeting schedule at its December work session, approving a motion to publish committee meetings at 6 p.m. and work sessions and council meetings at 7 p.m.
Councillors debated logistics and start times for administration, community development and public safety committees before Unidentified Speaker (S7) moved to advertise the changes and Unidentified Speaker (S3) seconded. After a roll call, the clerk recorded five affirmative votes and the motion carried.
Unidentified Speaker (S2), who led the scheduling discussion, said staff would at minimum advertise the January 5 reorganizational meeting set to begin at 6:30 p.m. and that the new council could later change meeting days or times. The council directed staff to proceed with publication of the notice.
Why it matters: Advertising is the formal step that informs the public of meeting times and opens those meetings to comment and attendance. The council’s decision means residents should expect committees to convene earlier, with public-comment opportunities tied to the advertised start time.
The council moved on to other agenda items after the vote; the meeting record shows the advertising motion passed and staff will place the required notice.
