Chairman Gillan praised the role of working dogs across conflicts, saying, “They worked alongside our very brave men and women, and I certainly have a debt of gratitude and support this resolution.”
Chairman Solomon framed the resolution in the context of veteran mental‑health needs, stating, “About 20% of Afghanistan and Iraqi veterans deal with some form of PTSD,” and noting service animals can provide companionship and functional help for veterans with mental‑health or mobility challenges.
The committee took a roll call and, with no negative votes recorded, Chairman Solomon declared the resolution passed unanimously. The resolution will be transmitted to the House floor for consideration.
