Tom Waznowski, speaking for Imagine Morrisville, told council the volunteer group raised funds to retain the DLR Group for a six-month planning and market-analysis study to explore ways to make Morrisville more "arts centric." He said the study will examine planning and marketing materials, market demand, partnership opportunities and potential impacts.
Waznowski emphasized the initiative is a private venture that "will not involve the park at all" and said the group does not intend to ask the borough for operating funding. He said the DLR Group engagement is expected to yield an initial update around mid-summer with final work by September.
Council members responded with support and several praised the idea of leveraging arts and tourism to improve downtown image and economic activity. Staff and the Economic Development Corporation were described as aware of and supportive of the effort.
Next steps: Imagine Morrisville will proceed with the consultant engagement, publish updates at imaginemorrisville.com and return to council if the study recommends any actions that require municipal involvement.
