Morrisville Borough Council approved payment number one for the Burrow Police sally port construction project on Dec. 16, authorizing $95,722.57 to R and S General Contractors, Inc., as recommended by the borough engineer. The motion passed by voice vote (recorded 6-0).
Police Chief Jesus Sampa briefed council on a short series of motor-vehicle thefts and attempted thefts that matched the borough’s annual high in a span of less than a week; he said vehicles targeted were primarily Hyundai and Kia models and advised residents to lock doors, park in well-lit areas and consider steering-wheel locks. Chief Sampa also told council the borough applied for an LSA grant of about $230,000 to purchase police vehicles; the LSA office advised recipients would not be notified until September 2026 if awarded.
Engineer Jacob Rigg reported the sally port is near completion — the concrete slab and fencing are in place and the borough awaits delivery of the garage door and subsequent installation of electrical and security systems. Council approved the payment to the contractor in the same meeting.
