The Toledo Public Schools Board of Education approved its consent agenda, the instructional section dated Sept. 24, 2024, and the September 2024 non-certified personnel section during the meeting.
Board members explained the purpose of the consent agenda, noting that committee work and monthly public committee meetings vet items before they appear on the full-board agenda. A member suggested ways to make meetings more accessible to the public, including posting agendas and a QR code for attendees to follow along.
Motions to approve each set of items were moved and seconded and passed by roll-call votes. The treasurer called the roll; affirmative votes were recorded from the members named in the meeting as Barwick, Vasquez, Parker, Barnes and Gerken.
The board also moved to enter executive session later in the meeting for conferences with counsel about imminent or pending disputes; that motion was seconded and adopted in roll-call vote.
The superintendent provided brief announcements after the executive session motion, including that the district's CDL program announcement had been widely shared on social media and that General Motors committed $100,000 to support EV engineering work tied to district programming.
