Board recognizes retirees and student voices as community forums continue

At its Feb. 24 meeting the Toledo City School District Board of Education recognized multiple retirees for decades of service to the district, naming educators and support staff from across TPS and thanking them for their contributions.
Student speaker Rayquan Davis described his school involvement — including SMART, National Honor Society and Honors Choir — and said he plans to major in music education at Logan Green State University. Parent representative Tenika Harris (chair of the Head Start Policy Council and district parent liaison) updated the board on parent leadership meetings and announced upcoming TPS community meetings with American Sign Language and Spanish translation provided.
TAP representative Mr. Manericks said TAP remains engaged with the district and pledged continued support during a difficult period for the district and its staff. Several board members praised the community forums and thanked staff for their work in organizing them.
The recognitions and reports were followed by routine business and the board moved to other agenda items, including the consent agenda and budget forecast.
