Residents praise public-safety crews; one raises long-running code-enforcement complaint

Somers Point — During the public-comment portion of the Somers Point City Council meeting, residents offered praise for public-safety personnel and raised a code-enforcement dispute.
Captain Joe Fogle (7 Village Drive) thanked the council for its service and singled out the police and volunteer fire department for keeping the city safe across his 50 years as a resident. He specifically thanked the police chief and Captain John Conover by name for their work.
Another resident identified herself as Christine Kaminka of 2552 Atlantic Avenue and described an ongoing code-enforcement problem involving a shed placed in front of a fence line and used effectively as a fence. Kaminka said prior permit records indicate a fence replacement permit but not a variance for the shed, and she said repeated code-enforcement correspondence had not resolved the issue. She said she may pursue legal action to force compliance.
Council members acknowledged the comments and noted code enforcement had been in touch on the matter. The public-comment period closed and the council proceeded with regular business.
