The Town of Lake Clarke Shores approved on first reading an amendment to its comprehensive plan to adopt a five‑year update to the 10‑year water facilities supply work plan and authorized transmittal to the State Land Planning Agency for review.
Staff explained the purpose of the update at a Local Planning Agency public hearing before the council, saying the state requires a 10‑year water plan with periodic updates and the town must show adequate potable water supply for future growth. "We purchased water from three government agencies, the county, Lake Worth Beach, and the village of Palm Springs," a staff member said, describing the town’s wholesale approach to water service.
The Local Planning Agency recommended the amendment and, following the recommendation, the Town Council read Ordinance 2026‑01 and approved it on first reading for transmittal (motion and voice vote recorded during the meeting). The ordinance provides for conflicts and severability clauses and directs staff to transmit the amendment to the State Land Planning Agency; the state will review it and return it for a second reading.
The council’s action was procedural: it sends the amendment to the state for technical review rather than adopting final local changes. Staff told the council they will correct typos and finalize the document before transmission. The next step is state review; the council expects that a second reading will be scheduled after the state submits its comments.
