School board approves staff savings plan, swimming cooperative and three-year teachers' contract

The Molalla River School District No. 35 board approved several district-level agreements and routine business during its regular meeting.

The board voted to adopt Resolution 2025-2026.005, described by board members as an Oregon growth savings plan offering an additional benefit for staff. Separately, the board approved an athletic cooperative allowing North Marion School District students to join Molalla River's swim team. Superintendent Dr. Mann said the arrangement "provides the coaching" while imposing "zero" additional cost on the district and gives students access to a sport they would not otherwise have. The motion to approve the cooperative was moved by Speaker 5 and seconded by Speaker 6; a roll call recorded affirmative votes and the motion passed.

The board also ratified a three-year collective bargaining agreement with the Wallowa River Education Association. Jean Marcia Lopez, representing the association, said bargaining began in March 2025 and that the association's membership ratified the tentative agreement with 96% of voting members.
