Lewisburg’s mayor proposed a work session and a follow-up special called meeting to narrow the finalist pool for the city manager search. Council members agreed to target Jan. 21 for a roughly 90-minute work session followed by a special call in which councilors would vote to name candidate letters (candidate A, B, C) to advance to interviews.
The mayor explained the special call is necessary because choosing which candidates to interview will require a formal vote that cannot be conducted in an informal work session. To preserve confidentiality, the mayor said candidates will be referred to by letter during the special call and names will be public only once candidates are selected to proceed.
Council discussed start times and availability; members tentatively agreed to meet late morning (around 10–11 a.m.) with final scheduling to depend on candidate and council availability. The mayor said he would circulate candidate materials ahead of the session and encouraged councilors to review resumes and prepare rankings in advance.
Next steps: staff will finalize the meeting time and agenda materials and distribute candidate materials for council review prior to the Jan. 21 work session.
