Finance staff explained that buses ordered with SR3 funds missed the original reimbursement cutoff and requested an extension that would allow the district to request SR3 funds later. The staff member said other paperwork had been submitted to the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) and that board minutes would be provided to complete the packet. "By requesting the extension, we'll have until mid-February to potentially request those funds," staff said, describing the change from a November 15 request deadline to February 15.
Board members asked for the length of the extension and the staff member confirmed the revised request window would extend the claim period from November 15 to February 15. Delivery timing for the ordered buses was provided: two rear-engine buses scheduled for delivery in October and a handicap bus due in November–December; one remaining bus delivery remained uncertain.
A motion to approve the SR3 extension was made and seconded; a roll-call vote recorded 'Yes' from all five district representatives listed in roll call, and the extension was approved.
The staff member noted the need to submit board minutes and other paperwork to KDE to complete the extension request.
