Board accepts December financial report showing $268.9 million in assets

The Burke County Board of Education voted to accept the district's December 2025 financial report after a presentation from the district finance representative. The presenter said total revenues as of Dec. 31 were $9,822,471, representing about 8.2% of general fund revenues, and total expenditures were $37,739,223 (45.84% of the general fund budget).
The presenter noted end-of-period general fund equity of $266,590,787 and total assets across funds of $268,910,755. The report included a purchase order encumbrance report and a vendor activity listing (items $5,000 and up) and the presenter said some year-end invoices had been rolled forward and cleared when award monies were released on Jan. 5.
Board members asked questions about a larger vendor payment of $430,750 identified as consultant services and were satisfied with the explanation provided. Following the presentation, a motion to accept the financial report was moved, seconded and approved by the board by show of hands.
The finance office will publish the report and vendor activity in the board records per routine practice.
