Board approves principal contract, vendor agreements, memberships and technology lease

The St Clair County Schools board approved multiple personnel contracts, vendor agreements and memberships at its June meeting.
Principal contract: The board considered a unique one-year contract negotiated for the principal Nadine, reflecting a 6% salary increase in year one, a $300 increase in the 403(b)/tax-sheltered annuity contribution, an increase to a $75 monthly cell phone stipend and life insurance increased to $250,000. A motion to approve the principal contract was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Appointments and summer staff: The board appointed a recommended teacher after receiving references, approved the summer employee list (with one approval pending the candidate’s return), and adopted the summer wage schedule with no substantive increases over prior years. The targeted-services summer program budget — supporting summer school, preschool and extended-day programs — was discussed and approved.
Vendor contracts and leases: The board approved a one-year environmental health and safety services contract with Holland Solutions Company for 15 site visits at a cost of $6,225; the superintendent explained the vendor supports water testing, crisis plan review and tornado-shelter communications. The board also authorized soliciting melt bids for winter services and approved a three-year technology lease for 240 Chromebooks totaling $21,984.77 to maintain device rotation for elementary and high school students.
Membership renewals: The board approved renewal of the Minnesota Rural Education Association (MREA) membership for $1,967 and the National School Boards Association (NSBA) membership for $4,950.
Each of these items passed by voice vote. When votes were recorded on the record (roll-call style) the clerk confirmed unanimous support for the resolution item listed during the meeting.
