St. Clair board approves appointments, accepts resignations and awards snow-removal contract

The St. Clair County Schools board on Monday approved routine consent items that included accepting resignations, confirming new hires and awarding a snow-removal contract.
The board accepted resignations from Anna Martin, Sandra Ankhondo and Megan Hine, then approved appointments for Jonathan Hat, Jared Courts, Jennifer OD2onnell and Annabel Shaw to serve in various roles for the 2024-25 school year. The board also approved hiring Tara Casper Rogers for a 0.57 FTE elementary physical education/paraprofessional position (three hours per day) after trustees discussed licensure and nonrenewal procedures that delayed hiring earlier in the process.
Administration presented the districts request for snow-removal services for 2024-25; H.J. Drummer Construction was the only firm to submit a quote. The board approved awarding the snow-removal quote to H.J. Drummer Construction, which administration noted has provided services to the district for about 15 years.
The board also voted to keep several student activity accounts (FCCLA, golf, knowledge bowl, track and field) open for 2024-25 despite no transactions in 2023-24, citing auditor guidance and the administrative burden of closing and later reestablishing accounts.
Each motion was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote.
