Board members moved and seconded the motion to set the maximum levy now and revisit any adjustments at the formal truth-in-taxation process later in the year. "Every school district in the state of Minnesota always approves the absolute maximum at this meeting because then in December, you come back at truth and taxation," a board member explained during discussion.
Administration said the preliminary document included the states certification and that small adjustments are possible as final state and program costs become clearer. The board recorded the motion as passed with the standard verbal "aye" vote.
The board did not change operating levy or bond authority at the meeting; members emphasized the preliminary levy is a routine, permissive step to preserve local options until final hearing and certification in December. The district will provide updated levy figures and the formal public hearing notice ahead of the truth-in-taxation session.
