Parma council and a large contingent from the city’s Ukrainian community observed the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full‑scale invasion of Ukraine during Wednesday’s meeting.
"On behalf of the United Ukrainian organizations of Ohio, I thank City Council of Parma for inviting us to join in marking the fourth anniversary of the illegal and unprovoked full‑scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation," said Dr. George, who urged a moment of silence and described civilian casualties, mass displacement and cultural destruction. He thanked Mayor DeGeeter for keeping the Ukrainian flag flown at City Hall.
Organizers invited the public to a solidarity rally in nearby Strongsville and accepted certificates of support presented by council members. Council members and attendees emphasized Parma’s large Ukrainian‑American community and the importance of continued advocacy and documentation of human‑rights abuses.
The presentation concluded with an invitation for members of the Ukrainian delegation to take a photo at the dais and with brief remarks from Mayor DeGeeter and other council members.
