Board approves Bloomberg teacher-licensure pipeline and multiple school operations items

The board approved a bundle of operational items intended to support staff development, inter-district cooperation and school operations for the upcoming year.
Administration described a partnership with 'Bloomberg' to create an educator advancement pathway enabling current teacher assistants to pursue licensure using existing grant funding. The board approved that educator advancement program as presented.
The board also adopted the West Cook intergovernmental agreement, which the administration said adjusts quorum language for the cooperative from a two-thirds majority to a simple majority of the school districts present.
Emergency operations plans for Whittier, Jefferson, Riley, Sunnyside, Northlake and McCarthy were approved. Administrators said site assessments have been completed for Riley and Northlake, and principals will tailor building plans to match district crisis response protocols.
The board approved digital tool contracts for Newsela, PebbleGo, ParentSquare and Epic (Epic noted as still under HR review) and approved a list of fundraisers and donations including a back-to-school event on Aug. 15, 2025. These items were handled by motion and recorded as carried on roll call.
