At its Jan. 20 meeting Strongsville City Council moved several noncontroversial items forward: it set a March 2 public hearing for an amended "fiber optic installers" ordinance, accepted a $2,000 donation to the Earnfelt Recreation Center from the Strongsville Community Theater, and established an ad hoc transportation and infrastructure committee.
Mister Zacharias summarized the legislative history of ordinance 2025-144, telling council that the measure to enact a new chapter titled "fiber optic installers" had been referred to the Planning Commission after its first reading, amended by council on Jan. 5, and again recommended favorably by Planning Commission on Jan. 15; he recommended placing the item on third reading and setting a public hearing for March 2, 2026. Council voted to place the ordinance on third reading and schedule the public hearing.
Ms. Kozick presented Resolution 20267 to accept a $2,000 donation from the Strongsville Community Theater for staff and room usage at the Earnfelt Recreation and Senior Center and asked council to suspend the rules and adopt the resolution that evening; the motion passed on roll call. Council members thanked the theater for the donation.
During miscellaneous business, Mister Clark moved to establish an ad hoc transportation and infrastructure committee of three council members to review transportation needs, roadway improvements, traffic safety and planning; the motion passed by roll call with unanimous 'Yes' votes.
Council adjourned after completing these items.
