Parma council adopts sewer special assessment, lease renewal and emergency resolutions

Parma City Council voted unanimously on Jan. 20 to adopt Ordinance No. 174-25, levying special assessments to fund installation of sanitary sewers as part of the Valley Villas Drive, York Road and State Road septic abatement project. Council then approved an ordinance renewing a lease with Wellnet Properties, LLC for 02/01/2026 through 01/31/2027 for use by the city’s Economic Development and Community Services Department.
Under suspension of the rules, council also placed three resolutions on final passage and approved them by roll call. Resolution No. 2-26 authorizes the mayor to sign an economic-development transfer form allowing Point Pub LLC to transfer a liquor permit to Azteca Parma, LLC so the applicant can meet the Department of Commerce, Division of Liquor Control filing deadline. Resolution No. 3-26 approves the City Auditor’s post-certification of requisitions to ensure prompt payment to vendors. Resolution No. 6-26 expresses council support for Ohio’s participation in the U.S. semiquincentennial (America 250 Ohio) and to align timely local celebratory activities with the city’s bicentennial year.
Council conducted roll call votes for the ordinances and resolutions; the clerk recorded affirmative votes and each measure was adopted. No substantive debate or amendments were recorded on the special assessment or lease items at the time of final passage.
Budget and scheduling notes recorded at the meeting: the city auditor said budget worksheets were distributed and budget hearings are scheduled for Feb. 18, Feb. 23 and March 4.
What’s next: Ordinance 174-25 and the lease ordinance are now adopted; procedural follow-ups will be handled by relevant departments (recording, administration, and economic development) as the measures move to implementation.
