The Alaska House Finance Subcommittee for the Office of the Governor adopted the Budget Action (BA) report for the Office of the Governor’s FY27 operating budget on Feb. 25, 2026, Co‑Chair Foster said, moving the request from subcommittee and authorizing the Legislative Finance Division to make technical and conforming changes.
Ramon Henderson, staff to Representative Foster, told the panel that no amendments had been submitted to the governor’s FY27 request and that, aside from required salary adjustments, there were no increases from FY26. Henderson reported the fund breakdown as unrestricted general funds $31,440,400; other funds $446,200; and federal funds $157,600, "for a total budget of $32,044,200." He also said the request includes "149" full‑time positions, "1" part‑time position and "24" temporary positions, "for a total of 174 positions."
Representative Edgmon said he would support adopting the governor’s request despite recent tensions between the legislative and executive branches. Edgmon said the governor had "recently vetoed some of the legislature’s budget," a move he described as "quite distasteful," but added, "I'm gonna support this."
Co‑Chair Foster removed his stated objection after discussion and announced the BA report’s adoption. Under the subcommittee action, the budget package moves from subcommittee and gives the Legislative Finance Division authority to make any necessary technical or conforming edits; the narrative and final legislative finance reports are to follow. The subcommittee adjourned at 5:01 p.m.
Vote tally: not specified in the record. No amendments to the governor’s amended request were recorded in the BA report.
