The superintendent explained calendar changes required by the negotiated agreement; among the changes is a full week off for students and staff during the Thanksgiving period (the district will use conference compensation days and an early‑release professional development day before the break). On motion and roll call the board approved the amended 2024–25 school calendar.
Board members emphasized transparency and asked staff to continue explaining the five‑year forecast, the distinction between general fund and grant funds, and the implications of contract terms for budgeting. The board did not detail the monetary terms of the BEA agreement in open session. The superintendent said the agreement reflected sacrifices and tradeoffs by staff and invited the community to read the agreement once available.
