HRA accepts chair resignation, names interim officer slate and approves interim EDA support through Oct. 11

The board accepted the resignation of HRA board chair Mary Sammis and approved Resolution 24-13 honoring her service. Staff said they will notify the county and post the vacancy; Sammis represented District 3 and the board said it will seek a district 3 appointee to maintain geographic balance if possible.
Following the resignation, commissioners nominated and approved a slate for officers based on seniority: Commissioner Gabler for chair, Commissioner O'Brien for vice chair and Commissioner Hansen for secretary. The motion carried by voice vote.
Separately, staff — who is also serving as interim director for the Economic Development Authority (EDA) — asked for board approval to continue in that interim EDA role through Oct. 11 to help with hiring the new director. Commissioners discussed scope, consultant support and the possibility of continuing limited hiring-committee involvement after Oct. 11 if necessary. The board moved and approved a hard stop date of Oct. 11 for the staff member's interim EDA responsibilities; the staff member said they would remain available to assist with interviews if needed beyond that date on a limited basis.
The meeting also included updates on the HRA's envelope energy improvement program (completed window replacement in Holbein and two more approved projects) and a cautious discussion about publicizing the work, since the program's $20,000 allocation is already committed.
