He said the county has already run cost estimates and that the annualized price tag of extending the package to the affected classes of court is about $536,000.
Jacobs also described plans for accountability-court programs — including post‑conviction mental‑health supervision and domestic‑violence interventions — and said implementing those programs would require staffing and multi‑agency coordination. Commissioners asked for more granular cost estimates, timeline expectations for starting programs and for participation by courthouse stakeholders; several commissioners asked the county attorney to obtain outside legal advice before any vote.
The committee voted to defer the resolution to the Nov. 18 Board of Commissioners meeting, with the item returning to FAB on Nov. 10 for additional stakeholder presentations and legal review. No benefits were approved during the meeting.
