DA pares request from nine positions to two; committee advances substitute

Boston said the DA's office has operational needs that justify nine positions overall but proposed prioritizing a department IT specialist to cover an upcoming paternity leave and a Deputy Chief Investigator for the digital forensics unit to handle growing digital-evidence caseloads. She said the remaining positions would be included in the FY2026 budget request.
Commissioners said they supported moving the two positions forward now and asked the DA to arrange a substitute so the full Board of Commissioners could consider the amended request at its next meeting. The committee approved a motion to advance item 13 24 with the condition to amend from nine positions to two as a critical budget request.
Staff will prepare the substitute for the full board; DA Boston said she will submit supporting documentation about digital forensics caseloads to the committee as requested.
