The Bethany Public Schools Board of Education approved several routine and personnel items during its meeting, including the consent agenda, encumbrances, a $500 midyear retention stipend for all certified and support staff, capacity reporting, policy additions and multiple personnel actions.
A motion to approve the consent agenda passed on roll-call, with members recorded as voting 'Yes' (Jaggers, Palmer, Halstead, Yates and others). The board also approved encumbrances, including replacement of an HVAC unit at the performing-arts center that staff said is at the end of its service life. "It's time for it to be it's limping," staff said when describing the unit's condition.
The board approved a $500 midyear retention stipend for certified and support staff after the auditor requested language clarifying the stipend’s purpose; the motion passed by roll-call. Administration presented the district capacity report and noted the addition of an intra-district transfer column set to zero to comply with a new law; the capacity report was approved as presented.
Board members voted to adopt policy CA (management and accounting of funds) effective immediately. The board also voted not to convene in executive session. Motions approving employment of extra-duty employees (addendum A) and acceptance of resignations (addendum B) for the 2024–25 school year were made and carried by roll-call votes.
The meeting concluded with an accreditation update (no deficiencies) and community items: administration said the district foundation and community raised $94,477 to sponsor students for the holidays and that every student on the list was sponsored "within 2 hours."
