The Worthington City Board of Education used part of its meeting to recognize student achievement.
Amber Eppling Skinner led a recognition of 14 students named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists from Worthington schools, asking students to come forward and introduce themselves for photographs. "We are so proud of these 14 academically talented students who are being recognized tonight as National Merit Scholarships," Eppling Skinner said.
The board also honored the Thomas Worthington High School girls water polo team for winning the state championship, noting a 7'to'6 final against Upper Arlington and a late, decisive five-meter goal by Leah Oberle. Coach Olivia and principal Josh Almanson joined the team as certificates were presented.
Board members congratulated the students and coaches and emphasized the district's pride in both academic and athletic accomplishments.
