The District Attorney asked the Board to raise the real estate fraud prosecution recording fee from $3 to $10 to meet program costs; DA staff reported $27 million in recoveries over three years but said revenues fell with declining real estate transactions. The Board approved the increase after a public hearing and discussion of comparators among large counties.
The Sheriff-Coroner presented fee updates for fingerprinting, clearance letters and local arrest record review, noting some historic fee schedules had not been adjusted for years. Supervisors and staff discussed the timing of fee reviews and encouraged departments to bring annual or CPI-linked adjustments when permissible. The Board approved the ordinance and associated fee increases; several supervisors abstained on procedural grounds on specific items.
Several procurement contracts for behavioral health services, utility management systems, and public works services were also approved as presented in the agenda.
